Early Saturday morning (July 28), I took a stroll through the trails at Lynde Shores. Of note, right at the entrance, were 4 Kingfishers. Further in, I found a juvenile Black Billed cuckoo, Kingbirds, several Least Flycatchers, Bobolinks (there have been many there all summer), 1 RT Hummingbird, Northern orioles, Cedar waxwings, Brown Thrasher, wrens, along with all the usual suspects. At the marsh, what a sight! I don't have a spotting scope, so I had to make do with binoculars, which enabled me to see many birds but not necessarily ID those furthest off. But I counted 18 GBHs, several Wood ducks, a Coot, 1 semi-palmated plover, 1 Great Egret, a few other shore birds that were too far off to be sure, and a Mute swan with at least 6 cygnets snoozing on their nest. I also found a nesting Cedar Waxwing. And a doe and some rabbits posed beautifully for a picture. It was a wonderful day. It's one of my favorite spots because there is always something neat to see - either furry or feathered.  :D
