spotted these guys Saturday afternoon...what a great day (too bad the light didn't quite play along)
great black-backed gull (thickson point)


purple sandpiper (thickson point)


eurasian wigeon (thickson point)


american kestrel


northern shrike (halls rd)


barred owl (yes still in the same spot on halls rd)


northern pintail (ressor pond)

thanks farmer, the shrike and sandpiper were new to me as well and a few of the others i had only seen once or twice before.  some days you just get lucky.

I should probably be finishing my Christmas Shopping, but it can't hurt to take the camera out and go looking for birds.  I heard there is a Western Tanager in Oshawa not far from where I live, but I will probably end up down at Lynde Shores sometime today.  Great pictures.
