Today was very overcast and some light flurries and cold but the park did not disappoint. Noted 29 Trumpeter Swans 2 Mute Swans over 100 Mallards with a good sized mixture of American Black Ducks. A larger than normal number of Buffleheads in the lagoon approx 25 both Male and Female, 1 Red Breasted Mergansger swam and dove regularly and fairly close to shore to. About 12 Longtail Ducks were partolling the mouth of the lagoons entrance to the Lake.  Add the flock of Rock Pigeons, a whole slew of Seagulls resting on the floating ice, and lastly about 50 Canada Goose which regularly take off and land leaving and returning making for some excellant inflight photo's.

A small sample of the Buffleheads

Nice pictures.

Your Merganser is a Red-breasted Merganser. The white necklace and the freaky hairstyle are two good field marks, while the male Common Merganser has a mostly white body.
