Northern Shrike

We live in the Bathurst/Sheppard area. Today, I saw a Northern Shrike land on my suet feeder at 12:45 pm. It scattered the cardinals, woodpeckers and nuthatch. I guess I won't see any feeder birds for the rest of the afternoon. This is the second time I've had one of these birds visit my yard.

I'm quite familiar with the area...do you know of public feeders in the area that we would be able to scout for this bird?  You know so we don't crash your place lol  :lol:

There are no public feeders that I know of. It hasn't returned to our yard, so it could be anywhere. I was just lucky that I looked outside at the right moment.

Shrikes would not come to a feeder to eat, only to hunt for the birds coming there as they are predators.... Col Sam park in etobicoke or the spit would be the best place to see shrikes still

Thank you for the clarification, but in a sense it still goes there to eat...just in a different manner of speaking.  :wink:

I think they sometimes will eat suet from a feeder, actually.
