Thanks to Jim Thomson, who's beautiful photo of this Wood Duck prompted me to head out to LaSalle to see if he was there.
It is hard to get him on his own as he continually follows his love around, who happens to be a female Mallard who pays him no mind.
He is very protective of her and lets no other males near her. She ignores him completely but he loves her all the same.
This is the first time I have been able to photograph a male Wood Duck. I never seem to make it to High Park when they are around.

Congratulations!   He is a beauty too!  I predict many in your future as I will be getting you out to High Park as soon as I see the Wood Ducks back . . . So get ready.

Great shots Meghan, glad you got there on a sunny day.....wish it was that sunny this weekend. Must of been cold that day to have icicles growing on his beak

very nice catch for this time of the year, always best to photograph them in the sun to maximize the colors
