Once again... Yesterday I had a couple hours between appointments and took off to James Gardens for a walk with a friend.  We stopped at the feeder to see if there's any action, but nothing was there except a woodpecker sitting very still... or so we thought!

I was looking up in the trees, while my friend spotted this on the ground having dinner, right next to the feeder.  Enjoy

Cooper's Hawk 2013-03-10

As a bonus, this Hairy Woodpecker came in so close for just one second, that all I got was this.

Thx for watching

I'm not great with accipiters that aren't in flight (I'm not great with them in flight either), but that looks like a Sharp-shinned to me.

You're probably right cloaca.  I've read a some articles regarding the diferences and I've also started reading a book called "Raptors of the World". However, I'm still having difficulty telling the difference between these two types of Hawks.  Thx
