What is the best time of day to observe the raptors there?  I went after work (5:30pm-ish) today in hopes of seeing something but all that was there were gulls and squirrels.

Peak time for BOPs is 10am-2pm,most especially on northwest wind days.

Thanks BIG FRANK.  That should work out well if we get some NW winds and no rain.  I am off work between 10:30 AM and 2 PM anyway.  Maybe I will see you there if the weather is nice enough.

hey Big Frank

thanks for the sage advice. Is your watch ongoing?

And where is the Hawk Hill watch at High Park at in terms of days and times?

Lovely days-- what better reason to be outside?

Hi Julie...I watch almost daily from Sept to end of Nov. These days birds are starting abit later,so I arrive generally between 8am and 9am,and that sometimes seems abit early. Most particularily on Northwest winds, the place will be hoppin!  Sunday looks great if the forecast holds, with the all day rain Saturday, and then NW wind Sunday. The watch at High Park,is as usual at Hawk Hill. It is beside the Grenadier Restaurant, just to the north up the hill from the parking lot. Id imagine there is someone present, much the same hours of 8am-3pm,almost every day. Peak hours at most raptor watches are from 10am-2pm. This late in the season, often the big birds ...Golden Eagles, come even later then 2pm. Just remember to dress very warm, for example Sunday the high is to be only 9c. When U stand all day waiting for raptors with strongish NW winds, that temperature seems much cooler! Enjoy, and hope U get to one of the raptor watch sites.
