I saw my first butterfly of the season yesterday at Riverwood, a Mourning Cloak.

Wow, this is great to know! Will definitely be looking for butterflies, especially with tomorrow and Saturday's forecast.
thouc .... did you report your sighting to Ontario Butterflies (Google group) or ebutterfly.ca ?

cool....have not been thinking about butterflies yet, last year with the warm weather, we had so many early sightings. This year, I suspect will not be the same.

I had 2 mourning cloaks yesterday in Erindale Park.

Yippee, Mourning Cloak at Maplewood Park, 1pm - first sighting for this Spring!
Weather: sun/cloud, wind gusts 61 km/hr, +18c. Wow!
(East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.)

I think this is an Eastern Comma (let me know if I'm wrong), at Riverdale Farm today. My first butterfly of the year!

Finally saw my first butterfly of the year, a mourning cloak in Earl Bales Park. Later on a half hour visit to Bestview Park was rewarded with 3 mourning cloaks and at least 5 (and probably more!) eastern commas.
