There are 3 egrets fishing in the lower duck pond of High Park. Nice to see!

A birth certificate shows we were born. A death certificate shows we died. Pictures show we live.

I have not been around High Park in a while either. I needed a walk to clear my head and the park is close by. Watching the egrets fish for a while was a good distraction.

I have never been to High Park, but would love to go see the Egrets, where is the best location to get access to the duck pond? I might stop by on Sunday on the way to the bike show if the weather cooperates.

Sometimes you need a little help to get the best shot.

You have two options:
1. Pull into High Park Blvd and keep to the left until you see parking. Park the car and the pond is just south of the parking lot.
2. Pull into Spring Road...there's no real parking but you can leave your car there for a bit. The pond is right beside this street, but the problem is that the view is obstructed by branches and brush.
I recommend option #1 and then explore on foot from there.

The egrets were seen in the lower duck pond that is at the southeast corner of the park at Queensway and Parkside Drive. There is a small parking lot right off Parkside Dr that is at the lower duck pond. I cannot guarantee the egrets will be there. Often great blue herons and Black crowned night herons and wood ducks can be seen there. And at the upper duck pond wood ducks and mallards definitely hold court. Here are a couple of links for High Park.

PS Taking Colborne Lodge Dr off the Queensway will lead to a very small parking lot at Colborne Lodge and a turnabout preventing one from driving up to the large parking lot at the Grenadier Restaurant in the centre of the park. Come in off Bloor or High Park Blvd and Parkside Drive if you want to do that.
