In the past week, there has been some interesting bird activity in our area. In my own yard (Bathurst/Sheppard) I had a male Black-throated Green Warbler. (A beautiful addition to my yard list.) I didn't even need my bins, as it sat in the tree right by my kitchen window. Other notables: two male Purple Finches, Dark-eyed Juncos, and one Chipping Sparrow.
Yesterday in Earl Bales Park (Bathurst/Sheppard) notable birds were: Song and White-throated sparrows, a House Wren, Yellow-rumped warblers, a female Scarlet Tanager, two local Red-tailed hawks, and 40 migrating Turkey Vultures overhead.
Last Sunday at G. Ross Lord Dam (Finch/Dufferin) there were:Kildeer, both Yellowlegs, one Belted Kingfisher, one Pied-billed Grebe, Palm and Chestnut-sided warblers, White-throated Sparrow, Gray Catbird, a GBH and a juvenile Black-crowned Night-heron.
Today, there were two GBHs, one adult and one juvenile Black-crowned Night-heron, and a Green Heron. There were still White-throated Sparrows and one Double-crested Cormorant.
