Hey!

Today the feeders were/are extremely quiet.. While at the BBQ getting supper ready I noticed what looked like a woodpecker in the tree next door..

we played "Cat & Mouse" so to speak for while trying to get a shot of it.. After about 20 minutes it finally showed it self properly..

While waiting on the little woodpecker or Sapsucker. I noticed a Thrush in the grass under the same tree.. I think it is a Hermit Thrush but I am not sure I did not notice any

reddish colour on its tail.. Nor do I recall any tail flicking.. Any help would be appreciated..

Napper: :D

There are many crows about and it seems all of the song birds are hiding in the bushes.. I think there is a Raptor somewhere nearby..

The woodpecker is a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.  Its difficult to say with certainty what type of Thrush you had though.  The lack of colour suggests Gray-cheeked but could also be a function of the lighting/distance of subject.

Thanx Iain!

The little guy moved to my yard later in the evening.. Still appeared to be mostly uniform in colour from the back.. Then it got way to dark..

I added 5 more images of the Thrush to my Gallery called "yard". Not much better than the one I posted originally..

Also I have previous pictures on page 3 of the  "Yard' Gallery of what I thought was a Hermit Thrush from this past spring.

Those extra photos add more certainty to Grey-cheeked Thrush, however I wouldn't completely rule out Swainson's.
