This afternoon I counted 10 Mourning Cloak butterflies along the upper half of the Doris McCarthy Trail in the Bellamy Ravine.  Several of the butterflies were observed feeding on sap running from the trees.  A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker had put about fifteen holes in one tree which caused a decent flow of sap for the butterflies and other insects to feed on.

Walter :)
