Red Necked Grebes seem to be the flavor or the month with so many nest around this year. Everyone have their fingers crossed?
I haven't had a chance to get to Humber Bay and the Sam Smith nest is a really hard shoot with there only being a few hours of good light first thing in the morning.
Here are some Grebes from a different nest site.

Great shots and a great find!  Where did you find them? There aren't many nests in southern Ontario.

There is one nest in the bay east of RK McMillan Park in Mississauga. When I was there it looked like they were incubating, but I wasn't able to see any eggs or chicks.

There was a pair with a chick in the bay closest to the power plant site last year.  I never did see that nest and I haven't been there to check this year.  Sounds like it's worth a look.

Thanks,

There's a pair of Red Necked Grebes successfully nesting in Bronte Harbour, Oakville, almost beside the Compass Restaurant. It's a great location if anyone with mobility issues wants to see a nest. It's about 10-15 feet off shore from the main paved footpath with a huge free parking lot behind it. The nest is to the east of the restaurant, the side with the children's playground. There's a screened gazebo for the boaters to use and the nest is right beside it in the "canal" between where the boats dock and the shore.

The grebes are stlil adding to the nest. (I love the daisies!) There are 2 chicks at least and determined steadfast incubating still underway. The male was bringing minnows and nesting materials when I was looking at them yesterday.

There are also LOTS of cliff swallows building mud nests on the side of both the restaurant and the showers building. There's a pair of Barn Swallows with a successful nest (3 large gaping beaks) in the bandstand gazebo.

All of these can be seen from a wheelchair.

Directions per the original Ontbirds post
Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Rd. (Oakville) and go south to the lake and turn
left on Ontario – your only option. The grebe nest is just east of the Compass
Restaurant on a floating tire that has been completely covered in vegetation.
It is very easily visible from the walkway.
