Banded birds visiting

Well, this is pretty cool (to us anyway)...  had a few banded birds show up at our feeders over the Labour Day weekend.

First off is this male Oriole.  I got a partial ID and called it in to a banding office courtesy of Bird Studies Canada and they are researching it, hoping to narrow down where he got banded.

I am one or two numbers short on each line of the band.  The Oriole was here for 4 days and I believe has now headed south.

Also, this American Goldfinch showed up and is still here daily.  Funny thing is this band was put on upside down.  I hope she goes on the upside down feeder, which will expose her legs more, and maybe I will be able to get a few more numbers and be able to call it in as well.

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.

The Oriole left after 4 days and I never got any more numbers from his band.  But, the Goldfinch still visits and just under a week and a half later I got all 9 numbers!  I submitted the report and blogged about the results if anyone cares to have a peek...
