It was a mix of seasons at Sam Smith Park this afternoon. The Snowy Owl and Harlequin Duck are still there, and the harbour is still frozen over. Meanwhile, offshore was the first flock of Red-necked Grebes (21 birds) that I've seen plus at least 3 Horned Grebes (1 in breeding plumage).  I found 5 Killdeer at the filtration plant, and a fly-over Blue Heron, but blackbirds and grackles were still scarce.

I think the Grackles were all in my yard.  We got home late this afternoon from the Ontario Eastern Bluebird Society's annual general meeting to find no less than 15 out back, plus 6 or 8 Red-wings.  It was great!  Still have 10 or so Juncos as well, singing up a storm (I recon they should be gone anytime once they break out in song).

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.
