I was lucky enough to be able to photograph these birds the other day. A new bird for me as this was the first time I have ever seen them.
So pretty.

We used to have a flock come and strip our mountain ash (rowan) of berries most winters when I lived in Kingston.

Absolutely lovely photos. Thanks so much for sharing them.

Beautiful pictures as usual.  Such a pretty bird, I remember seeing the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks when I lived up north, but I don't think I have seen an Evening Grosbeak.

Sometimes you need a little help to get the best shot.

Lovely series! I especially like that you have shown the underappreciated beauty of the females.  They don't usually get peoples attention with those flashy males around.

Thanks Brian, I think the females are just as pretty as the males. So subtle in their color but the feather detail is so nice. and the markings are just  lovely.. But you are right, most folks prefer to photograph the males, not too many pics of the girls  around. The boys shouldn't get all the attention!  :)

We saw a bunch of these in Algonquin just over a month ago.  Damn, it feels like forever.  Nice series.  Thanks for allowing me to re-visit in my mind.
