A couple of male Bonaparte's Gulls with about four females just west of the "Wimbrel bench" yesterday. Very close to the shore. A beautiful sight - a lifer for us.

Nice find, I had a few of them on Monday. I don't think you can tell the difference between males and females, the one's with hoods have acquired their breeding plumage, while other's still have their winter plumage.

Thank you Thouc. Thought the ones with the smudge on the cheek were female. You're right - as always.

Today I saw quite a few at CSSP - flying over water away from shore. Some have completely black hood while others speckled hood - these are probably juveniles. It's also a lifer for me.
