THANK YOU REUVEN! It took awhile but I was finally able to relocate the Hooded Warbler about 200 feet east of the original location, at 11:30 today. He was high up on the hillside, foraging amongst fallen trees and dense piles of branches. Unfortunately he was not singing, so finding him took a lot of luck - I just happened to catch a flash of yellow! What a gorgeous guy! And a lifer for me too! Funny that there were no other warblers to be found anywhere in the area, but I enjoyed a nice assortment of woodpeckers and several Winter Wrens. With north winds predicted for most of the night, maybe he will grace us with one more day? -Kris Ito
p.s. Just looking at the range maps for these guys. Maybe he's not waiting to go north at all - maybe he overshot his territory? Maybe he needs to head east or south??
