I birded the lakeshore from Lakeside Park to Colonel Sam Smith Park today. Landbird migrants are still quite scarce but I did pick up a few interesting things. Tons of birds out on the lake everywhere out to the limit of visibility.
Notable Species:
Surf Scoter - 2 flying east at Rattray Marsh
Virginia Rail - 1 heard calling at Rattray Marsh
Spotted Sandpiper - 1 at Colonel Sam
Bonaparte's Gull - a few scattered around, but off of the Rhododendron Gardens there was one big flock sitting on the water offshore of about 1000.
Little Gull - I picked 2 adults out of the big flock of Bonaparte's, but given the distance I likely missed more.
Common Tern - many back around the colony at the mouth of the Credit River
Blue-headed Vireo - 3 at Rattray Marsh
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - a few scattered around
Northern Waterthrush - 1 singing at Rattray Marsh
