I saw my first oriole of the season this morning. Unfortunately, my feeder had been knocked out of the tree by a racoon during the night. The oriole left.
I put my feeder out over the weekend in anticipation of the return of the orange and black beauties. This year, the squirrels have figured out how to get onto the feeder and eat the jelly. During the night, the racoons come and knock the feeder to the ground, spilling the syrop.
I will have to change my strategy - perhaps taking the feeder down at night and putting it back out in the morning.
