The dark markings on the head and possibly on side along with the paler tips of the wing and tail have me baffled. Any thoughts? Sorry about the overall quality.

Thanks for the comments, I retrieved the photos taken before and after this photo out of the trash, I don't know if that will help or not. The one shows a dark spot on the crown but it might be a shadow from the plant. But I am curious now to see what this bird is.
This is the photo before, not sure its the same bird.

Definitely the same bird

Not being able to see the last two pictures and only the original image, I'm gonna throw Hooded into the mix.  That cap looks more like the trace of a hood, I can see quite a bit of contrast between the face and the crown and the color of the upperparts looks a bit too green for Wilson's, at least from my perspective.

With the tail open like that, a Hooded would show some white.

A fair point, and as my experience with Hooded is admittedly zero I'm in no position to disagree.  That being said, would you really call that tail open?  It's not entirely closed certainly, but I don't know whether the white would show with the tail in that position.  If somebody can say definitively we're looking at a Wilson's I wouldn't argue, I just have doubts.

I really would call that tail open.  You can see at least a few of the outer tail feathers on the bird's right side, some of which would show white on a Hooded.

Okay, we'll go with your experience!  In any case, the more I look at this bird and the sliver of the face that's visible, the more the yellow starts to look like the supercillium of a Wilson's.  Guess you can color me wrong with my initial reaction of it possibly being Hooded. In the field this bird goes down as warbler sp. for me, but as a photo it makes a decent quiz bird.

No.... not Hooded, just came back from Pelee where I saw 4 different Hoodies (both male and female pairs), with similar closed tails and white is very visible, below reference picture is not good quality but shows white in closed tail well
