Northern Mockingbirds have been very scarce in my travels this spring.  I'm guessing that with the harsh winter many either perished or headed south and never returned.  Yesterday though, as I was pedaling up and down (and up and down) the DVP, I heard them singing in at least three different places.

I see one or two fairly frequently on Wynford between Don Mills and Concorde.  Typically behind the buildings on North side close to the rail-tracks.

There are 2 Mockingbirds nesting in Downsview Park, I suspect that there are probably even more nests because I can think of an additional two locations that I have often seen Mockingbirds in the park this summer.  You can usual count on seeing a  Mockingbird whenever you come to Downsview Park, a lot of fun!

I agree that Mockingbirds have been much harder to find this year than last. I work in an area where I should see them at least once a week but so far nothing this year. I did find one near my home in Mississauga last night which was nice but overall noticeably absent this year.

I'm happy to report that at least one adult male NOMO has been on territory at Symington and Adrian (just north of Dupont) for a several months. I've been watching them in this neighbourhood of single family homes, old warehouses, railroad tracks and industrial/vacant lots for eight years or so. They usually overwinter but I don't recall a mid-winter sighting this year.
