I visited the park on Sunday, June 1st in search of shore birds that were reported earlier. Sigh; not too many to be found on that day. I saw 6 or so Ruddy Turnstone, a few spotted sandpipers and three black-bellied plovers. The plovers were quite far; however, recognizable in the photos that I took. At least that's a lifer for me; that alone was worth the visit. There were quite a few bird watchers/photographers around, all with very disappointed look. At the marsh area I saw a few marsh wrens. Later I visited the light house area and joined the search for a Nelson's Sparrow. No luck there either. It is a beautiful park - it was my first visit. Unfortunately Beach #2 and #3 were closed for maintenance. Outlook post 2 and 3 were not accessible without knee-high rubber boots. #4 produced some nice shots of Turnstone. Have to try again in the fall.
