I went birding in Carden yesterday. Considering the time of year wasn't expecting a lot. For birdwatching there are still some birds to see but I didn't see anything that wasn't there in May; photographically I didn't get much. However, there were a ton of Butterflies so it wasn't a wasted day.

Unidentified Skipper, at least I think it's a Skipper. I looked through my Butterfly book and couldn't figure out which Skipper it was so would like some ID help please.

American Lady.

Eastern Tailed Blue.

My first Monarch of the season.

Orange Sulphur.

Viceroy.

Wow..the detail in the American Lady is stunning. The colours are beautiful in her. That D800 really shines through in that shot...at least I hope you're still using it  :D

Thanks Meghan.

Yes, I am still using my D800 although I now have a D7100 as well which has become my primary camera for birds and bugs. With a 24MP DX sensor it has a better crop factor than the 36MP FX sensor of the D800. However, the D7100 sucks in low light and it was overcast in Carden when the day started so I pulled out the D800 and kept with it even when the clouds went away.

Nice shots Paul.  Your skipper is likely a male Dun.  They're all brown without spots.
