African Ringed Dove... had I known...

Last Saturday we had a unique visitor come to the backyard for a feed, a drink and a nap.  At first we thought we had an Eurasian Collared Dove; but it turned out to be an African Ringed Dove, or Turtle Dove as some call them.  An escaped pet or a release at a wedding.

If only I had known at the time of his 30 minute visit with us, I would have taken the bird in and helped him.  He was pretty worn out and rough looking.  Good luck wherever your wings take you!

So the yard "pet" list goes up...  3 Budgies, 1 Orange Canary, 1 Cockatiel and now this guy.  *sigh*

Nah, the bird flew off and never came back.  At that point there was some big debate on what this bird actually was...  African blah blah or an Eurasian-collared Dove.  So I was just leaving it be.

Ya, there was a Budgie in between the 2 we have that I wasn't able to catch.  The Orange Canary came in one afternoon, screaming and freaking out, but didn't stick around.  The neighbour caught a Cockatiel in the park nearby and it escaped on him which I managed to capture for him as it flew around here for 40 minutes.

There was a Zebra Finch a few blocks away about a month ago.  That would have been a good one for the personal list.  LoL!
