A grey and white Cockatiel flew in and landed beside me about 3 this afternoon close to the walking path almost at the place where the road splits off to the outer edge of the Spit. I know absolutely nothing about this type of bird, but I looked them up on the internet and it matches. Grey and white, standing up 'crest' on the top of the head, an orange splotch, long tail that seemed to be split in flight? No idea where people might look for lost birds - but here is a notice.
The call was strong single notes 'preet'. It flew a bit further landing on the ground again and then headed back across the road still calling. I think it was pretty confused...........Hopefully it will be rescued somehow.
