This is the bird at Col Sam. I was quite surprised with how small it was!
 

 

 
The bird was still around today, Sept. 21, and in the same area.

Well, I made the trip this morning and was rewarded with a great sighting and photo-op of this little gem - a lifer for me. What a colorful bird he is - a joy to watch.

Reviewing my photos and yours here, I see a noticeable change in plumage in the short time the bird has been at the park.  It has lost most of the wiry white feathers on the top of its head, the crown has grown a bit darker, and there is less white on the neck, particularly at the sides.  We have had a rare opportunity to closely observe this normally elusive species!
