What a fun day! About mid morning a lone hummingbird showed up and has been around all day (I got some good 'perchies' with my SX50). A bit later one of my 3 chipmonks arrived and allowed me to pet it's back and lightly squeeze it's tail before flying off the feeder! Of course it returned almost immediately to mingle with the chickadees and the sparrows but I noticed another bird that I couldn't ID without help. I got a few good shots and, according to my bird guide, it's a female rose breasted grosbeak - yes, I probably should have known but I haven't seen one for a long time and it's a first for the yard!
P.s. the hummer was still around at sunset so I expect to see her tomorrow.
