Splendid! Cranberry Marsh?
Yuppers. After seeing the Pacific Loon in the Oshawa Harbour, I realized that I wasn't too far from the Cranberry Marsh so I passed by to see what was going on. And much to my delight there were quite a few Rusties feeding on the ground near the platform and also Green-winged Teals and Northern Pintails out in the water. Some of my favourite birds.
Beautiful! I haven't seen one in years. I don't really visit the right places at the right time of year, but they aren't as common as they used to be either.
They should be there now at the Cranberry Marsh and also in the Lynde Shores conservation park. I love Rusties and all birds that have some kind of colouring in that spectrum (Rusty, Buff, Orange, Chestnut) but also aren't that common. For example Rusty Blackbirds, Fox Sparrows and Eastern Towhee ...and it's just a delight seeing them in the fall.
