early morning is the best time for small birds, and maybe coyotes - but plan on spending all day because in the early evening is when the owls start hunting :)
the early evening is is also when we saw the bald eagle most active...

Thanks Angelicque. I guess in the morning it's about 7:00-10:00 am and evening 4:00-6:00 pm?

yes, early morning is really good for red polls and northern shrikes...also the coyotes are seen most often around 7am.
as for the owls, i noticed them around 5ish (dusk), and saw a lot of activity after 6. saw the bald eagle out on the lake ice beside the bird banding station around 6:30...
so i would say more 5-7pm for the owl and eagle activity...until dark, really ;)

you can waste a lot of time on the peninsulas after the red bridge...there is so much waterfowl over there!

I find that I can get everything in early in the morning.  I usually head out before the sun rises and I like to arrive out past the red bridge around 6:30 AM (walking I start form my car at around 5:45 am, riding my bike I start around 6:15)  The owls are usually still active around that time of day grabbing a final snack before bedtime.  Then the shrikes and small birds including the water fowl awaken and then the Bald Eagle usually moves out form the trees and towards the water looking for his breakfast.   I am usually gone from the park by 10:30 AM just as the majority of birders and park users are just arriving.

oh my! you get up VERY early in the morning ;)
unfortunately i live in Etobicoke, and getting over there via TTC takes well over an hour - so no early mornings for me ;)

this will change when i can afford a car :)

Thanks Jeadon. I guess I will try an early morning as I can't spend all day there

Hi,

I usually like to go in the mornings too. I get there about 8:30 but then usually spend about 4 or 5 hours there. There is a lot of area to cover.
