Good afternoon;

Unfortunately, at this point, no picture.  A friend has had this bird at her place for a few days.

Goldfinch size, but rounder (maybe be fluffed up because of weather), ground feeder, eating seeds.
Beak - dark gray/black, maybe two toned
Fumanchu like whiskers
Black eyeline, dark eye
Yellow eyebrow and cheek
Gray cap
Back olive gray
Throat, Chest, stomach, tail undercoverts fluorescent yellow
Wingbars, not white, yellowish

Thinking it it an escapee, but so far looks Ok, chasing Juncos away from seed.

Thanks in advance for any info, advise etc.

First task is to find what group the bird might belong to (finches, warblers etc.). Bill shape and size would be helpful.

Thanks for your reply.    Bird apparently more finch like then warbler, about the size of a goldfinch, but more round, my friend's description.  She could not find anything in her book.  I hope to get over to see it in the next day or two.  She also has 2 Fox Sparrows hanging around.

Hope to have more info in a day or two.

It sounds like one of the bred varieties of zebra finch, which can be quite variable.

Is it something like this --> http://www.discountparrotsupplies.com/w ... -finch.jpg ?
