Oh no, I think you were at the wrong bridge! The Eider is at the big white span bridge that actually crosses the Humber River, not the little one over at Humber Bay Park (that's Mimico Creek). You can see the bridge easily from the QEW and the easiest access is probably Sir Casimir Gzowski Park where there is an easy parking lot right off the Lakeshore. Note that if you are approaching from the east, you will have to over-shoot the parking lot since you can't turn left into it (edit: sorry I was on the highway where the Lakeshore cut-off takes you too far past the park, but I think if you are traveling west on the Lakeshore, you might be able to turn left into the big parking lot at Windermere, then just drive down to the west end of the lot). It is of course possible that the bird may also visit Humber Bay Park since it is so close, but the reports from the weekend had it swimming right in the river, not out on the lake.
