As I began an (unsuccessful) attempt to find the snowy Owl at Colonel Samuel Smith Park this morning, I found a pair of Harlequin Ducks at the base of 23rd Street (the western edge of the park). They were fairly close to shore in a mixed flock of dabblers and divers. Unfortunately, the Harlequins took off a few minutes after I arrived (approx. 8:30), heading east. There was a large flock of ducks east of the park. They may have landed there, but I couldn't relocate them.
Along with the usual species, there were 3 coots, and an adult male White-winged Scoter near the mouth of the harbour.
