Great pix -- how far were you ... he looks unperturbed...I know they're bold but usually when they're aware of humans they keep an alert eye....

I live in a rural area where they are hunted quite aggressively....and I have NEVER seen a coyote out here (despite claims that we have a coyote problem)....whereas I have seen about a dozen in the GTA

Where is Col Sam located ?

Click once on the image to avoid scrolling.IMG_1647 - Version 3.jpg[/attachment:29l8dddl]IMG_1639.jpg[/attachment:29l8dddl]Thanks Axeman. I was maybe 20-25 meters away. Obviously he was aware of my presence and moved on without hesitation. Within a minute he started to hunt as you can see on the next picture. The next day I came across the same coyote even at the closer distance. He surprised me being so perfectly camouflaged against background that I almost walked into him. LOL.
Location - Kipling and Lakeshore - Etobicoke. More info you will find here http://www.ccfew.org/html/sam_smith_park.html

I followed a link on another set of pix of coyotes at same park....and it was an interesting read about a radio collared female in that park....HUGE range....which had me thinking....curious why they'd have such a huge range when I figure there is more food in urban area -- garbage, pets, pet food, rodents....and they wouldn't need such a large range.

Up here, they primarily hunt deer and rabbits as opposed to mice....

And apparently there is anecdotal evidence of coyotes in algonquin hunting moose.
