Second warm day in a row, and I went out to my backyard at about 10:30 to find an adorable mixed flock around the birch trees. Golden-crowned Kinglets, so tiny, and a very similar bird but larger that I have finally concluded might have been a Yellow-rumped Warbler. It is possible, but I would feel better about it if someone else has also started seeing them. There were Dark-eyed Juncos on the ground and singing away. And out with them, but silent, were also a pair of Norhtern Cardinals and a pair of Chickadees and some White-breasted Nuthatches, who appear to be trying to make a nesting hole in my stucco!
In other news, I saw the first Red-winged Blackbirds and American Robins on the same day, for the first time ever, on Mar 17 at Downsview Park. A couple of days later I could hear them around my house, which is nearby. Late-normal according to my records.
