There is a gorgeous Common Loon in the marina at Sam Smith - it was seen yesterday and was there all afternoon today, mostly swimming around or sleeping. Huge with beautiful markings, easily seen from any shoreline. Another one was working up and down the outer edge of the peninsula that goes to the marina entrance - diving non-stop. 20+ Bonaparte gulls were flying in and out from a gathering on the water far towards shore from the marina entrance as well. Horned and red-necked grebes, many Common Terns flying overhead, a jaunty Field Sparrow, 2 Mourning Cloaks and a beaver swimming across the marina towards the docks.
Flat calm water on a spectacular warm day. Several vocal Ruby-crowned kinglets too! And a Merlin............and 6 Black-crowned night herons.
