On my way out to the lighthouse this evening - and what a superb evening it was with perfect temperatures and no humidity finally - I stopped in to the mini-cells of Cell 2 that are constantly changing formation. All sorts of Killdeer, 2 Caspian Terns and 2 young Black-bellied Plovers in one area. M arrived and we poked along a bit further to another cell and saw 4 more Black-bellied juveniles which took to the air showing off their black underwings as they headed out to the lake. On my way back around 6:30 I stopped in again and watched more (or the same ones) poking along on the shore of one cell, nearest to the lake. They were calling back and forth to others on the opposite shore of the cell - beautiful to listen to them all. I could see 6 together plus 1 more a little further away so for sure there were seven.
Perhaps 2 dozen Monarchs which isn't many for this time of year.
