Nice! Did you see the sea birds on a boat trip?

Picture #5 looks like a Sooty Shearwater with the pattern of white on the wings and overall shape.

#2-3 I'm also not sure of. Great Skuas usually have more mottled appearance with reddish tones. South Polar Skua and Pomarine Jaeger are possible. Do you have any picture showing the back?

Thomas,

Yes - on "The Day's Catch" with Sea Watch tours and Durlan Ingersoll as the mate/guide. You are correct on #5 and thank you for pointing it out. It was confirmed as a Sooty Shearwater and I typed from the wrong notes and thus misidentified the photo.

As for the Skua - at the time of sighting it was identified as possibly a South Polar Skua - two days later Mr. Ingersoll called and told me he had sent his photos to a Newfoundland based expert who identified it as "year 1 Great Skua".

Thanks, Gary

Beautiful! I'd love to see a Skua.

Your phalaropes look to be mostly Red Phalaropes. There looks to be one Red-necked Phalarope in the flock  towards the top left (slender bill, small size).

Thank you for pointing this out - I will adjust my notes attached to the photo.
