My old thought about how
if you stand in one spot long enough, you'll see every bird species in Ontario got a real nice boost today when I heard and then saw a Tufted Titmouse in a spruce tree right next to where I conduct our hawk watch at Rosetta McClain Gardens. Of course it doesn't hurt when your 'spot' is on a known migration route! After snacking on a few cones, the bird bounced around from tree to shrub to tree in the immediate area before returning back to the spruce. It eventually flew out and up towards the north-west corner of the park. After a thorough search in that area it was refound flittin' around in a shrub, then eventually it was seen feeding with other birds (Juncos, Cardinals, Sparrows, etc.) along the woodchip path in that same corner of the park. Obviously not sure if it will stay but will check for it again in the morning between the forecasted rain and snow.
I will post a few photos in the 'Photography' section shortly.
Rosetta McClain Gardens is located one light east of the intersection of Birchmount Rd and Kingston Rd in Toronto's east end.
Happy birding,
Walter

Is backyard birding our new normal?
