October 29th I saw my first Snowy Owl of the season along Hwy 401 at the bottom of the 410.

Since then I've had a few more encounters, most recently last night, and the bird seems to have a preferred lamp post right smack dab in the middle of the 401.  It's east of Dixie where the collectors goes over to the express and the post would be on the left.  No way to stop any where for viewing, can only pass him by with a quick glance up.

Last winter I went for weeks with near nightly sightings of Snowys in this stretch, usually 2 and sometimes up to 4 birds in the stretch across Pearson Airport.  The birds had preferred spots south of the 401 where I was able to take some back roads and view them with ease from the truck.  I hope for such fortune this winter.  It's a great way to end the long work day.

Very Good !

Bean keeping an eye out during the early morning commute since Dec 1st.
Unlike last year, nothing yet a Downsview or along the 401 between Jane and Dufferin.

I will ask around, our flight Mechanic types spend lots of time out on the airfield.  8)

Last winter, I saw one on the ramp to the 427 north from the eastbound 401, also westbound 401 west of Dixie at the cut off to the 403/410.  I will keep an eye out for the one at the eastbound collectors to express ramp.

tonight ,  I seen a giant white Snowy Owl on the 401 west, in Toronto , when passing Yorkdale mall.   it was very white too, and had a huge wingspan. It was flying across the highway in front of an over pass bridge about 200m up,  , then turned toward us coming down low on the grassy side of the highway in-between the 401 WEST express and west collector,  and passed right by my car window on passenger side .  it was very cool to see so close. and it was strange as we were stuck in a traffic jam with hundreds of cars ,  and the owl was paying no attention and seemed to be hunting for mice,  or maybe a small Deer ? it was big,,,
