This morning shortly after 10 o'clock while watching the usual Sparrows, Starlings, Cardinals, etc. from the kitchen window, I had a Baltimore Oriole show up and land in a small tree in the backyard.  After a few seconds of disbelief I quickly ran and grabbed my camera.  Upon returning to the window I found the Oriole at my peanut feeder!  This is the only photo that I was able to get before the bird was spooked-off by an incoming Starling...

The bird did return once to the backyard about 30 minutes later but immediately took-off to the east.  I sat and watched for it until roughly 12:00pm with no luck.

Walter :)

Merry Christmas and good birding in 2016!

Is backyard birding our new normal?

Great December bird! I wonder if this one, or any others will turn up on tomorrow's CBC.

I grew up in Dundas and one of my neighbors used to get a pair every year in the maple tree in their front yard.  Also used to see them here and there at my friend's cottage in Bolsover.  Amazing birds to see for sure and what an awesome picture!!
