I was very fortunate to see Yellow-shouldered Parrots on several occasions on the island and to watch them in different situations.

Beautiful set and great timing! We will be stopping in Bonaire for a day (Jan 9 I think?) while cruising the Caribbean on the Carnival Dream. I probably won't get too far from the cruise port but I'm still hopeful of seeing a few 'new' birds.

There is a path along the ocean in town that starts off the cruise ship dock and runs north. There are usually Saffron Finches around and sometimes Brown-throated Parakeets and Venezuelan Troupials in the vegetation on the shore side of the path. In the market that is set up just off the cruise ship dock, I spotted the finches and parakeets as well in the trees on more than one occasion.
If you are looking for the flamingos, pintails or crested caracaras, a cab ride out to the Mangrove swamp is your best bet.
The parrots I saw in the park at the north end of the island, but also in the residential area just south of the airport.
Enjoy your stop!

Thanks. I got lucky with the parrots. They had decided that one of the trees near where we were staying was a good place to visit and were willing to let me get close enough for some great views of their interactions.
