Like the topic says, I will be trying to get out to the Leslie Stree Spit for my first time, sometime this weekend :D I was looking at the maps and it seems to be a pretty big area. I was wanting to see some of the beautiful owls that I have seen posted here, and possibly some raptors as well and need some advice on where to look. Where should I be pointing my attention to to see some of these beautiful birds.

Thank you everyone in advace!

Hi Drevni,

I am an expert at this... not finding owls, asking for advice (lol).  I have received some great help from the contributors to this forum.  If you check some of the olders posts in Toronto Reports or Bird Photo Corner, you'll find some directions in there.  The Barred, Great Horned, Saw Whet, Long Eared and Short Eared owls that have been reported over the past few months are generally out past the bridge, though not always.  A good bet (without getting way too detailed and confusing) is to check the wooded areas (around peninsula B) on your right a few minutes walk past the bridge.  But the best bet is to hook up with one of the friendly and knowledgeable birders that use this forum.  I'm sure you will get some more good advice.

Always keep in mind safe practices while using the internet; re: meeting someone you've met online.
Sorry, I'm a teacher.  I had to get that in.

The Toronto Field Naturalists are conducting a birding walk on the Spit this Saturday, March 22. Meet at the parking lot at 10 am. I believe it is open to non-members.
