looks like they'll be in Toronto 2 weeks earlier than last year - possibly mid-April

Dreamer! (but I hope you're right). I put this year's and last year's maps side by side and they look almost identical so I don't know why arrival should be two weeks earlier but I'll get the feeder up by April 15 anyway.

I'm still not expecting to see hummers here before May but has anyone else put their feeders out? Nothing to lose so I'll put it out today. :)

nothing reported in Toronto yet, but unless you're out there, staring at your feeder, then you may miss one flying by.
mine's been out for 2 days, but, like you, i don't usually spot one for a few weeks

Well, there's good news and there's bad news. The good(?) news is that there have been a few visits to my hummingbird feeder. The bad news is the visitors have been chipmunks and chickadorks! I'm still forecasting my first hummer to arrive on May 9 but the feeder is right beside my computer room window so chances are good that I will see any early arrivals. :)

Good for you Meghan! (are you sure it's not a bumblebee?? :) ) Just kidding, is he hanging around? My first males usually don't stay, probably heading a bit further north before they establish their breeding territories.

He was there again all day today. Coming about every 15 minutes to 1/2 an hour.

I had just finished telling my son over the phone that my hummers hadn't arrived yet when one showed up. I guess it's time to get the perches ready!

Does anyone have hummers hanging around? So far the Saturday bird is the only one I've seen; are we waiting for the second wave?? :)

Finally!! I have a male returning every few minutes for a brief feed, hope he hangs around for a while (at least until the ladies arrive!) :)

...or another male! (sorry about quoting myself). It's after 9pm, the old eyes don't see well in the dark but I've got two males fighting over the feeder! I hope they both show up early tomorrow morning because the sunrise light is pretty good.
