After a slow afternoon yesterday I was pleased to have great birds early this morning.  Eight warbler species and many other goodies.  61 species in the park, overhead or in the water nearby.  Many attractions were:
Ovenbird, 3 -- two by the west fence near the house and cedar chip path and one at the east end
Nashville, 2
Yellow Warbler, 4
Black-throated Blue, 1
Palm, 4
Pine, one visible and singing and one other possible singer
Yellow-rumped, several throughout the park
Black-throated Green, 1

Also Great-crested Flycatcher, three or more Brown Thrashers, two Blue-headed Vireos, one Lincoln's Sparrow, one Fox Sparrow, lots of White Crowns and White Throats, Carolina and House Wren, a few Hermit thrushes.

For entertainment value, a family of crows was active with the youngsters squeaking and flying/landing rather poorly.  The three resident Red Tails were hunting a rock pigeon as a pack and seemed to force it down just out of view.  A resident Cooper's Hawk actively hunted as did a falcon too fast for me to ID.

Enjoy!

This morning was a little quieter at Rosetta but still exciting with a few new arrivals...

Red-breasted Grosbeak - 3
Baltimore Oriole - 1
Chimney Swift - 23

Most of the warbler species reported yesterday were still present today.  Also, a Ruby-throated Hummingbird was reported to me being seen close to the park this morning.

Good birding,
Walter :)

This morning myself and 3 other birders tallied-up 56 species at RMG including a Golden-winged Warbler - a first for me at this quaint little park.  The GWWA was seen clearly flitting around in a bare deciduous tree before quickly being lost to the 100 foot tall evergreens on the east side of the park.  Despite a fairly lengthy search the bird was not refound.

Highlights...

Least Flycatcher, Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird, Blue-headed Vireo, Warbling Vireo.  Warblers - Ovenbird, Golden-winged Warbler, Black-and-white, Nashville, Magnolia, Blackburnian, Yellow, Chestnut-sided, Black-throated Blue, Palm, Pine, Yellow-rumped, and Black-throated Green.

Good birding,
Walter :)

Lots of brightly coloured birds this morning after the rain including a Black-billed Cuckoo.  Unfortunately time was not on my side today so I didn't pay much attention to anything but the Cuckoo.  This is the 3rd year in a row for this species at Rosetta!

Good birding,
Walter :)
