Did a couple hours in the park yesterday just after the rains and had a good mix of spring birds and usual suspects.

Yearlys for me inc. Black Throated Blue, Redstarts aplenty, Indigo Bunting, a dozen Gnatcatchers, and solitary vireo.

Also saw 13 wood ducks and a Black crowned in the duck ponds, and several usuals; yellow, yellow rump, gold / house / purple finches, hairy / downy / red-bellied, chipping sparrow, red eye vireo, two orioles, and the resident great horned.

Finally, witnessed an unfortunate exchange between a lady and man who had off leash dogs in the bird sanctuary. Just want to remind people to act kindly, despite how infuriating some dog owners can be. I will again be writing our Councillors to add more signage, and to increase educating dog owners who choose to ignore the spirit of the park. In this case, the woman and the dog owner resorted to yelling and used much profanity, in close proximity to a group of kids and parents out with the Nature Centre.  I'll just say it was a sad moment in an otherwise beautiful day in the park.

Happy birding!
