1. I have heard of a wintering Barred Owl in Hall's Road, Whitby ever since I became member of this forum. I made many trips to the location in last three years and was not successful in seeing it. Finally a week ago I managed to see it sitting out in the open on a birch tree by the road, enjoying the light snow fall while many photographers clicked their cameras away. What a surprise to see a wild bird in such an open location.

2. On my way to pick up my daughter from McMaster I drove further out to Long Point to see and photograph Smith's Longspur that was reported seen for almost a week. It was a life bird and worth the drive for sure. There were also two or three Lapland Longspur in the mix. I've joined two different Longspurs in the photo below for comparison. Smith's Longspur is on the right.

3. Just over a month ago, a few of were fortunate enough to see five Long Eared Owls together on a deciduous tree in Downsview Park. We were all awestruck at the time.
