I work just north of the Leslie St. Spit. Last year a pair of mockingbirds nested in the shrubbery of our parking lot and I'm happy to say that I spotted one today around the same spot!  Is there a merlin that hangs around in the area? I'm pretty sure I've seen one in our trees.  Hopefully the mockingbirds will nest again and the merlin will stay away from the nestlings.

I probably have seen the pair you are talking about. Most days last summer, driving to work along the Lakeshore just east of Leslie, I would see a pair. Because I always saw them together, I just assumed they had nested in the area. If this isn't the same pair you are talking about, then there is another one! I will look for them again this spring.

Also found a pair in Bluffers Park. Last summer, I regularly saw a pair together in the same area on every walk I took. On a walk last weekend, saw a pair, definitely courting, in the same general vicinity.
