My wife and I made our first trip North today.. to have a look around.
Around 9:30 this morning I was sitting at the edge of my deck watching the gold finch's and the rabbit that call my yard home
when 2 white swans flew from West to East just behind my house Just above the power lines. I could not I.d. them.
Just before leaving I spotted 3 Cedar Waxwings in a tree a couple of doors down from my house.(image is in the gallery yard)
Along the way a
Northern Harrier swooped low over the ground and landed on a fence on the West side of the 407 at Derry Rd.
The 407 and the 400 Northbound were very quiet but for the odd crow. North of Barrie along County rd 6 it was far busier flooded fields with hundreds of geese
and gulls.. At Sawlog Bay a
Raven barrel rolling to avoid an attacking crow. At Thunder beach, Robins, Turkey vultures soaring ,4 Redtail hawks in a small kettle.
North Georgian bay at Sawlog point is Frozen all the way out to Giants tomb. The beaches to the West ,18 th concession down to 9 th concession are still snow and ice covered there is open water 200 meters out with floating ice. Every beach we visited there were hundreds of geese and other waterfowl. I spotted a couple of Common mergansers at Balm beach..
Fun little outing.
Now, if your still awake maybe someone could help me with this one. Is it too early for Common Night hawks ? I thought I spotted one yesterday...
Britannia rd and 5th line Milton.
