Ashbridges - week of May 21

Things seem to be slowing down a bit after the excitement of the Piping Plover at Ashbridges Bay this week.

Today (Wednesday)
A few shorebirds still hanging around

Dunlin
Sanderling
Ruddy Turnstone
Semipalmated Sandpiper
Semipalmated Plover

And 5 Trumpeter Swans have been in the new part of the bay for the past two days.

Warblers:
A lone (and probably confused) Yellow-rumped
lots of Yellow
Chestnut-sided

Highlight for today:
Philadelphia Vireo in the low trees near the parking lot

Jean Iron reported seeing a (different) piping plover at Ashbridges Bay today

I was there late in the afternoon and saw the Piping Plover together with other shorebirds mentioned above. I also saw the following:
one Magnolia, a Common Yellowthroat, a Tennessee Warbler, quite a few Cedar Waxwings, a pair of Warbling vireos, a Swainson's Thrush,  one Yellow-bellied Flycatcher and lots of Baltimore Orioles.

Spent some time at Ashbridges this morning (Friday). There weren't a lot of shorebirds, but some variety. And then as I was leaving a bunch of warblers by the parking lot (near the hawthorn)

Had a pair of greater yellowlegs today on woodbine beach at around 6 am.  Right in the middle of the water on the flooded beach at the eastern end (further away from Ashbridge's). Beak was very long and slightly upturned.  I heard one of them calling over and over as I observed them.
